Hey!
My name is Rinn Wight (she/her), and I am an illustrator, designer, and educator born and raised on Long Island, New York. I hold an AOS in graphic design and a BFA in illustration from Pratt Insitute, as well as an MFA in illustration from the Fashion Institute of Technology. My work is characterized by its bold color schemes, intricate details, and a sense of dark whimsy. Currently, I reside in a cozy shoebox in Brooklyn with my partner, Bryan, and our Siberian Husky, Klaus. When I’m not working on a project or teaching a class, I can usually be found in the pit at a live show or competing at a local trivia night.
I am currently looking for work primarily in the music and entertainment industry. Growing up, Long Island's angsty music scene profoundly influenced my creative journey. There isn’t a show I go to where I don’t bring a piece of merch home. I view the visual design associated with music as more than just aesthetics; it’s a vital part of the storytelling process that enhances the overall experience for fans and creators alike.
That connection inspired me to write a qualifying paper discussing illustrators and designers working with musicians and their creative process titled Illustrators on the Record: The Evolution of Illustration in Emo Music from Punk (1979-2020).
