Like A Virgin Losing A Child
This 14-page Accordion Zine, inspired by Manchester Orchestra's debut album "I’m Like a Virgin Losing a Child", narrates a couple's journey through loss and the struggles it imposes on their relationship. The illustrations fluidly transition between pages, creating a cohesive visual narrative that aligns with the album while offering unique interpretations for each track.
The physical copy of the album is presented as an accordion book, emphasizing the seamless transitions between each illustration. This project was printed on a single page (1ft by 14ft) and folded into an accordion book, collapsing to resemble a vinyl record sleeve.
The Anchor That Drags
This zine takes the form of a letter to my father, written while reflecting on our relationship over the past few years. It explores the tension between distance and connection… The words I could never say out loud, but could express through imagery and rhythm. The accompanying text uses oceanic metaphors to capture not only our relationship: his presence and absence; but also the life he chose over his family: the life of a longline fisherman, a true pirate. Perhaps this is the language he could understand: how the love and turbulence of the sea shaped both our lives, for better or worse.
Mr.Playmate, Come Play With Me
This flexi-pop zine reimagines the darker side of a familiar childhood nursery rhyme. Drawing from “Oh Mr. Playmate,” it transforms an innocent invitation to play into something more unsettling and surreal. Each line is visually narrated through bold red highlights and stark, contrasting shadows, evoking a sense of danger lurking.
Pocket Poem Posters
This 4-page, single-color zine features a collection of original writings and poetry drawn from my personal emotions, reflections, and lived experiences. Each page presents a distinct poem that explores themes of relationships, self-image, fear, and personal growth, offering an intimate glimpse into moments of vulnerability and self-discovery. The minimalist one-color design reinforces the raw and unfiltered nature of the work, allowing the words to take center stage while maintaining a cohesive visual tone throughout the zine.
Photo Ready
This short four-panel comic is part of a larger ongoing series that will become a graphic memoir exploring life within a fractured home. The story centers on my parents’ relationship and how their dynamic shaped my understanding of the world growing up. Through this work, I reflect on memory, distance, and the quiet ache of family, a sentiment captured in the reality that, these days, you can’t even beg them to take a photo together.
Single Spells
This zine shares the ingredients and ritual for a simple Wiccan spell designed to invite kindness and positive energy into the home. Blending visual storytelling with elements of spirituality and intention, it serves as both a guide and an art piece, encouraging mindfulness, warmth, and compassion in everyday life.
