The Unpermitted
The Unpermitted is an alternative Long Island band formed in 2012. For years, they played from dive bar to dive bar without a solid visual identity, simply writing their name on a white sheet of paper with a Sharpie and taping it to the wall. As punk rock as that may be, they realized they needed something more permanent and recognizable. That’s when they reached out to me to help them create an identity they could truly be proud of.
Beyond identity design, I had the opportunity to flex my photography and videography skills, and we all grew together as artists throughout the process.
Our collaboration is built on open communication and brainstorming sessions where we discuss their vision and make it happen—even if it means learning new skills along the way. Check out some of my favorite moments from this collaboration below!
Logo Design
Creating a logo for The Unpermitted was a breeze thanks to our open communication, in-depth research into their desired aesthetics, and the band’s unified vision. They were inspired by the look of baseball logos and wanted to dive deep into the pop-punk visual style that defined the 2010s. Armed with their references, I set out to design a custom font from scratch, bringing their vision to life and accomplishing their goal for a unique, memorable logo.
Photogropher
One of the best parts of collaborating with The Unpermitted was the variety of tasks I was able to take on. Typically, I’m behind a desk designing or drawing, but with The Unpermitted, I was also on and backstage, capturing the raw energy of their live shows. Being on the scene not only allowed me to rock out with the crowd, but also gave me the chance to experiment with photography and truly immerse myself in the experience.

Videographer
I’m never one to shy away from a challenge, so when The Unpermitted approached me to shoot and edit their 2019 hit "Last Chance," I was all in. The venue we chose was an iconic spot in Northport, New York—a place well-known to both the band and me, and a favorite hangout for up-and-coming musicians and local townies. For the music video, the band requested a gritty, basement-style aesthetic reminiscent of the underground punk shows from the '90s and early 2000s. I was excited to take on both the shooting and editing, embracing the chance to create something raw and authentic.
